I made this card to thank our friends Stephanie and Art for hosting us over the Memorial Day Weekend. We always have a great time with when we all get together. We’ve spent the last 2 weekends together and I’m sure there will be many more in our future.

I think every Tuesday when I reflect on what I’m most thankful for it is nearly always my Friends and Family. This past weekend Jordan, my best friend Liesl, Stephanie, Art, and my little brothers girlfriend Amanda went to Detroit Downtown Hoedown at Comerica Park. We had such a great time all 3 days even though it rained two of the three days. I’ll share pictures and more details later this week! This summer has been such a blast so far and I look forward to all of the great plans we have.

Take Time Tuesday, Take 11!

Wow! In all of the excitement of the holiday weekend and planning this upcoming weekend I nearly forgot it was Tuesday already! While I don’t have a card to share with you today I promise some great crafts coming your way very soon.

Today I am thankful for all of the men and women who have served or are serving our country. I am truly grateful for the sacrifices you make to keep me and my loved ones safe. I think our service men and women should be celebrated regularly!

Take Time Tuesday, Take 10!

Wow! I can’t believe it has been 10 weeks since this all started. Time really does fly by when you are having fun. Today is a short post, I don’t have a card to share today, but hopefully I’ll have some super cute new stuff to share later this week and early next week.

Today (and really everyday) I am thankful for the people in my life who encourage me, inspire me, and build me. Whether it’s my friends or family, I have many people in my life who have giving me the strength to be who I am. I recently went through a very difficult patch at work (which made it incredibly difficult to see the glass half full). I am so blessed to be able to count on the group of people I hold nearest and dearest to help me through these difficult times.

Take Time Tuesday, Take 9!

Today for Take Time Tuesday I will share a Thank You card I made with some of my new Verve Stamps products and a stamp from a set from Papertrey Ink that I had forgotten I owned. Verve and PTI are two stamping companies who’s products I really enjoy using but I find that I often reach for other stamps I have instead. I don’t know why because the cards I create with these products are equally adorable.

Grateful

I’m very fortunate to be able to “afford” my hobby of crafting which is something I am tremendously grateful for. I usually pick up most of my crafting supplies on sale or when the companies I like ordering from run promotions. I rarely pay for shipping because I wait so long to order that my list gets so long that I qualify for free shipping. Here is a peak at what I picked up from Verve Stamps. You’ll be seeing cards and projects with these stamps soon, I have so many ideas floating around in my head just waiting to be made!

Crafting is a huge stress reliever for me…even when I get frustrated by a project not turning out quite right.  I usually feel less stressed after spending time in my craft room. I’ve been looking for more things to relieve stress since I’ve been finding work to be extremely stressful lately. Working out and exercise has been helping, but I’ve found that my muscles are sore…I never remember being this sore while I was in high school or college.

While Jordan and I were at the Tigers game in April they gave out gift cards to a place called Massage Green Spa, while I didn’t win one I was intrigued. I looked it up online and found out they were running a special for an hour massage for $29.95. I jumped on it last Friday and I am feeling very relaxed. Definitely going to take some time to pamper myself again.

So this week I am thankful for my hobby of crafting being a stress reliever and for my new find in Massage Green Spa! What are you thankful for this week?

Take Time Tuesday, Take 8!

Hey Everyone! I have the most exciting news ever….Winter Semester is over! Okay, okay, that might not exactly be the most exciting news ever, but I am very thankful that the semester has finally come to an end. I took 10 credits while working full time and nearly drove myself crazy…I don’t plan on doing that again. I get a short break before the Spring/Summer semester begins on Monday.

I made another Thank You card to share today. This one follows The Deconstructed Sketch #91 that I missed while I was busy with school work!

I used MME A Mothers Love DP with SU’s Calypso Coral and Not Quite Navy CS. I cut of the banners with MFT’s Fishtail Flags STAX…I love these dies. I added some Cool Caribbean brads to tie all the colors together and the crystals just add something special which isn’t typical on a Thank You card. The stamp is a free stamp I received with my Verve Stamp’s order on Friday, gotta love freebies that you can actually use!

Take Time Tuesday, Take 7

Hey Everybody! I’m so excited to participate in this weekly Link Up with my friend Katie over at LifeHalfFullBlog. As you may have seen my blog is mainly about paper crafting so I’ve decided to add that element into my Take Time Tuesday posts. I’ll share Thank You cards or notes on Tuesdays, I can always use back-ups in my stash!

For this card I followed The Paper Players Sketch Challenge #143. I used American Crafts Patterned Paper in Dear Lizzy Neapolitan, White 120lb cardstock for the base, and a few scraps for the rolled roses (the I used is by MFT Stamps and it’s called Mini Rolled Roses). I stamped my sentiment from SU! Best Yet stamp set in Memento Tuxedo Black ink on white cardstock die cut with a spellbinders nestability.

This week especially, I am incredibly thankful for all my friends and family. Jordan and I have been spending quality time with the people who mean the most to us. I believe it is important to put effort into maintaining all of our relationships. This summer we have planned many outings with friends and family that I am so excited about…I know I keep telling you all about them. I hope to plan many more, but it’s exceptionally difficult with my work schedule sometimes.

Take Time Tuesday, Take 6

This week is really going to be a short and simple Take Time Tuesday!

This week (and most weeks actually) I am thankful for planning. I have been a planner most of my life. I feel without careful planning you cannot reach goals or outcomes that are desirable. Two weeks ago I talked at length about my diet plan, so I’ve decided to work on a weekly post around that plan so I can share my progress but also allow people to follow along if they would like. Look for this segment to start soon!

Take Time Tuesday, Take 5

I won’t lie I had a completely different Take Time Tuesday post ready to go and then the events of yesterday’s tragedy at The Boston Marathon unfolded.

It’s hard to describe what I am thankful for today, but I think many will be able to relate to this post. After reading all of the news links, looking through some very shocking pictures, and watching footage of the attack I was able to come to terms with the magnitude of what happened in Boston, MA on Monday. I have such admiration for all of the civilians who came to the aid of the wounded victims. In many pictures I saw and even the one video clip I watched I saw people tearing down the barricades to help the injured in any way they could. Those images gave me hope that there is still good in the world. I pray that I could be as selfless in such a difficult time.

While I don’t run (due to knee injuries that flair up at the mere mention of running) I am a fan of and a friend to many runners. The community of runners grew last night to include those, like me, who are feeling the weight of yesterday’s attack. I pray for peace to come to those who were immediately affected by this senseless act of violence, along with swift justice to those who perpetrated this crime against humanity. I pray that this event will not discourage or bring fear to the running community and all of the races that have been scheduled, planned, and trained for.

In the end I am thankful today for belief in a higher power and the ability to pray for peace, courage, strength, and whatever anyone needs to get through the tragedies that are becoming common place. I am thankful for a nation that still believes I have the right to pray for those affected in the way that I choose. I am hopeful that all who have strayed from the path that is right and good will find their way back.

Take Time Tuesday, Take 4

Happy Tuesday Everyone!

I’m starting to look forward to Tuesdays and have really begun to put some effort into what I am thankful for each week. I even try to take photo’s or leave myself notes when I think of something that I would like to share (whether I share it on a Tuesday or not, it’s still good to keep notes/ideas).

This week I am thankful for a routine gym schedule. While I don’t go as often as I really would like, I have made time (in my crazy retail schedule) for a workout twice a week. On Monday nights after class I drive out to Jordan’s and we hit the gym near his house. This isn’t the most ideal time to exercise, but I do find that I fall asleep faster on Monday’s that I do any other night of the week. The on Wednesday mornings before Jordan goes to school we workout at the gym near my house. I must say that it is challenging to wake up before noon on my day off from work, but it’s worth it…I’m 10 pounds away from my first tier goal (to be at the weight I was my first year on the Alumni team at WMU).

I’m also thankful for healthy eating. Two or three years ago I was wandering around Barns and Nobel while Jordan was looking for some mechanical engineering book and I came across a book that stopped me in my tracks. The books cover was fairly plain, but showed a very fit women and the words This is Why You’re Fat (And How to Get Thin Forever)”by Jackie Warner. Naturally I was intrigued…I mean really who wouldn’t be. I wanted to know how this women knew why I was overweight and how to make me thin with out even meeting me. I purchased the book on the spot and began reading immediately.  I learned all about sugars and hormones and how women naturally have a harder time loosing and maintaining weight. So I began following her meal plan (and only the meal plan) and almost a year later I had lost about 35 lbs. I was thrilled! A long story made short, I put back on about 20 of those pounds over the next year because I wasn’t sticking to a healthy menu and I was making meal choices with my emotions. I’m proud to say that I am officially back on the meal plan (I started in early March) and I have added 2 workouts to my weight loss plan. I have 10 lbs to go to get to my first goal and then I have 15 lbs to go to be at my ultimate weight loss goal. I recommend this book to anyone who is struggling. I reference it often and I’ve even purchased her second book, but I find the first much more helpful.

Wow, with that all being said…I’m also VERY thankful for the built in cheat meals in my meal plan! Now lets not get carried away…it’s not a whole day of eating bad it’s just one meal, no more than 1500 calories which doesn’t get you much when you look up nutrition information for some of the food being served out there, but it does allow for a nice dinner out or lunch with friends. I took a picture of part of my cheat meal from last week to share with everyone.

These are truffle french fries from The Jolly Pumpkin and they are amazing. The paper cone holds a million fries that are more than enough for two or three (possibly 4, but we’ve never tried). They are served with a yummy dipping sauce, but are probably the only french fry that can be enjoyed plain. I haven’t looked into the calorie content for these little babies, but I’d almost rather not know. I love The Jolly Pumpkin because all of their food is free-range, organic, and some even vegan. I enjoy their steak salad, which falls perfectly into my meal plan and proves that meals can be enjoyed out of the house you just need to know what to pick.

Take Time Tuesday, Take 3

Here we go again with another Take Time Tuesday post and link up with my friend Katie’s blog.

Today I am thankful for a couple of things. First, my goals and the progress I have made towards them. I feel very accomplished when I review my goals every few weeks. I’m thinking of expanding or maybe tweaking some of my goals or their definitions. I’m feeling really positive about these changes!

Second, I am thankful for the wonderful holiday weekend I enjoyed with my family this past weekend. While I was off from work, I definitely kept busy watching basketball games, catching up with friends I haven’t seen in a little while, and cleaning (in preparation for the great clothing purge).

And Third, I am thankful for all of the events/adventures I have planned this month. I have so much to look forward to this month, starting with my trip to Indiana for The 2013 Vera Bradley Outlet Sale, then Baby Caleb’s Baptism (I’m going to make a cute little Noah’s Ark card…I’ll post when I’m finished), then Jordan and I are going to our first Tigers game of the season, followed by our God Son’s 3rd Birthday (I’m also making a cute card…I love birthdays)!

Clearly I have tons to be thankful for this month! I look forward each Tuesday to sharing with everyone what I am thankful for. Thanks for visiting!
